Hello guys,
Today, we’ll see how to migrate from Lync Server 2013 to Skype for Business Server 2015.
This is a little lab without Edge Server, PSTN and WAC. Also in future, I will write how to take the old LcsCDR , LcsLog and QoSMetrics to the new back-end.
Is strongly recommended you have a valid backup!!!
We assume you already performed the deployment of the Frond-end and SQL servers. The prerequisites you can check here.
So, let’s start.
Download and save the current Topology.
In this case, I want to create a new pool. In my real environment, I want to change the name of my pool and I opted for this migration.
Right click and select New Front End Pool…
Define the name of the pool;
Assign the servers will belong to the pool;
Select what do you need;
In this little lab, the mediation will be collocated;
We do not have any Edge Server yet;
Define the SQL Server store;
Click new;
Put the FQDN of the SQL Server, and if you have an instance named, please insert the name, if you have a default instance select Default instance. In this lab, we won’t work with high availability.
Select the SQL Server store previously created;
Define the new file store;
I like to work with DFS for File Store, so when the publish topology occurs, the warning will be displayed.
Define a name to Skype for Business Server 2015 External Web Services;
The name must be different of your pool;
We won’t work with WAC yet;
After it, please publish the topology. Do not forget to create the file store and apply the permissions.
Use SQL Server instance defaults for Database path;
Looks Great!
